Bloodline

acrylic on canvas
72 x 60 inches
NFS

This abstract composition brings together hard edge shapes, organic stormy brushwork, washes, rays, stripes, tribal motifs, Egyptian-like wing work, and odd objects such as the black comb and the light pink triple-looping form. The bloodline runs through the bottom of the picture and flows into the future.

This geometric abstract composition features wood grain looking textures, graphic line work, color blocking, and subtle curves that soften the overall structure. Loose, smokey brushwork behind the pink triangle evokes mystic overtones.

Reconstruction with Golden Joinery

acrylic on canvas

original artwork available thru Cristina Grajales Gallery, NYC

A bold, abstract geometric composition with stark black and white patterns, bold shapes, and nudes. The strange arrangement is a reconfiguration of parts and pieces from a time before, now held together with gold mendings. The white scallops and voluptuous curve in the lower right corner bring a feminine tone to the overall play.

The Odd Prism

acrylic on canvas
60 x 72 inches
SOLD

A large scale organic geometric composition with antique gold, nudes, grays, ochres and muted aqua over a black background. The theme is about alchemy - in this piece a process that is turning chalky bars into gold. The "odd prism" in the middle of the picture indicates the delicate nature of the transformative system.

The Opening

Large, stacked shapes resemble an eccentric armoire; a suitcase for visiting another dimension; or a giant shield etched with tribal markings and light beams. Repeating lines make rhythmic sections throughout, and the black and white 3-d rays and steps draw the mind to an ethereal dimension. In the lower left corner and upper right panel are pieces of the planet Jupiter. The palette that includes neon orange, pink, coral, spring green, bright yellow, light aqua, and navy blue is grounded by earth tones, deep muddy reds, and antique bronze. The right side of the “doorway“ to the infinite or deep space is gouged and scratched, evidence of the many explorers who have passed through.

Broken Boat

acrylic on canvas
48 x 72 inches
SOLD

This work feels like a departure from previous paintings because of the looseness, the way things lay tossed together and a little less carefully stabilized. Titled “Broken Boat,” it’s about realizing you’ve crossed an ocean and now you’ve reached the other side. The boat did a really good job of ferrying you, and now you are here, in this new place, and the boat is in peaceful pieces and it’s no longer of use for you. It's about that you can’t go back to where you came from and your time is now.

An abstract composition with stripes, geometric and organic hard edge shapes, black and white, washes, antique gold, cosmic purple, pink, burgundy and aqua. Each Day is a Dance

acrylic on canvas
72 x 60 inches
SOLD

This bold geometric abstract is inspired by Bauhaus costumes. Two “figures” are linked and dancing together, joined by a common gold circle that represents their shared experience of music/life. The minimal palette of yellow ochre, antique gold, black, white, and cream is also in line with the graphic design style promoted by the Bauhaus, the accessibility and simplicity still relevant today. Symbolically, the piece is about our relationships with life, the complexities of the Self, and those we love—both demanding and full of reward.

The Gateway

The Gateway

Organic cascading arches land in color blocks. The palette is soft with sages, terra cottas, mauves, and creams. Gold gates guard each side of the black hole in the middle that opens to the surrounding infinite vastness. However, take pause before passing through. The gateway symbolizes a place of non-action or meditation, an opportunity to wait and take time to observe, understand, bless, and then release your past. For in letting go of the past you reclaim your power.

Rapprochement

acrylic on canvas

This painting is inspired by the joining of forces, harmonious relating, and calm after a storm. Strong black and white stripes, a white diamond at the top of the composition. and a red triangle echo tribal symbols. The overall formation of shapes culminates as a protective figure. A light blue wall juts outward in faux 3-D toward the viewer. There's a wash of water and next to it, hypnotic, concentric linework.
